Elgin Rider Wins For Safety
Our son, Dylan, age 9, entered a poster in the Antelope County Fair titled, "Dress the Boy in Protective Gear and Clothing for ATV Riding". He earned a purple ribbon on the project. We took a photo of him dressed in his own gear, then printed it for him to cut into pieces. Before cutting, he drew a picture of a boy on the poster board so that it fit within the outlines of the original photo. Then he laminated the pieces of clothing and gear and attached sticky-backed Velcro to each piece, sticking the coordinating piece of Velcro to the appropriate place on the drawing of the boy. He attached a second piece of Velcro to the poster board surrounding the drawing of the boy, and wrote explanations of why each piece of gear of clothing should be worn when riding an ATV. We attached the pieces to the Velcro next to each one's explanation, so that anyone viewing the poster could read about the pieces, then move them to the appropriate place on the drawing of the boy. When finished, the boy was safely dressed and ready to ride! Dylan currently rides a Suzuki LT80, but will soon outgrow it. He hopes to get a Yamaha 200cc Blaster or a 250 cc Special Edition Custom Raptor and pass on his 80cc to 6-year-old sister Kira. So far, Dylan has ridden on the Genoa and Halsey trails.
