HALSEY TRAILS CLUB

Meeting was called to order by Chuck McCarty, March 10, 2007, at Nebraska Machinery, in North Platte, with 31 members present. Old business discussed was the Grand Island Meeting.  Talked about sustainable trails that do not disrupt the natural environment.   We will need to have a plan for trails by 2009. Officers were introduced.

Minutes were read and approved as read. LaRae Trembly made a motion to accept minutes Finances were discussed. We did not apply for a grant, because we did not have the time to write the grant at present time. Rodney (Vice President) did work with Dan, and Nohva put in for a grant, which includes $1,000 for Halsey trails. Trail maintenance, won't know what we really need to do until the snow is gone and we get back up there to make an inspection.

New business, filled out forms with names, address, phone and e-mails, and where they would like to ride. Also encouraged all who are not Nohva members to join so they can receive information about trails and so forth. Nohva is our parent organization, and do the political work and get grants and insurance and so forth. It was decided that we should be called a club rather than a chapter, like if we would apply for a grant, it might raise a flag, if we apply as a chapter. Dan Nitzel is director, and does allot of work for. Nohva. Halsey Trails officers, must attend annual Nohva meeting.

We discussed designing a t-shirt, Mike Nelson son from Grand Island, drew a design for the shirt. Vicki McCarty will get some estimates of cost of shirts. and will discuss more at April Meeting.

We will be going to Halsey to do an inspection April 15th, to get idea what we will need to do. Will bring food for sandwiches. and snacks. May 4-5 work weekend was discussed, Chuck said that he thought that camping will be free. Patti Barney will check into it and let us know. We have one designated trial the Dismal River trail, we do ride other trails but we need to get them on map, so they can he trials. We need to work on hill climb so that we can sustain it if we can. We will need to bring equipment, such as shovels, rakes, shears,. Nohva will fund work day, hut latter on we may have to have some fund raisers or dues.

Patti Barney discussed what should be done if we feel someone is doing something that is destructive, ask questions, get us information as to what happened, description of rider, and bike.
